Project Description

This project was initiated with the purpose to give life to an existing old soul and improve its retail market share. The design was initiated from research into the retail potential of the centre through tenant mix, convenience and general aesthetics that are in line with current shopping centre trends and norms. Within a constrained budget, the proposal sought out to refurbish the centre in such a way that it does not necessarily compete with the adjacent Mooirivier Mall, but compliments the urban shopping node. Integration and improvements to the taxi rank connectivity were key considerations. The huge influx of commuters traveling through the centre is captured and used as a driving force in terms of providing a comfortable route and access to the taxi rank but at the same time capturing the market and providing a more convenient, quality shopping experience.
